Where you and your health matter
Welcome

Hello, I’m Christine Tuffnell
I am a New Zealand trained and qualified Clinical
Medical Herbalist.
I practice herbal medicine at my private clinic in Nelson,
New Zealand
Having come from an extensive background in health services - as clinician,
researcher, manager- I have now returned from the depths of a strongly
medical model to emerge with the discovery of what helps people better
balance the tensions between wellness and unwellness.

Making Sense of Wellness and Unwellness
Health is about expanding consciousness of one’s self
in order to understand your patterns of wellness and unwellness.
From this understanding you can
enhance your own natural healing.
Working with Herbal Medicine enables me to practice an holistic
approach.
Underlying Principles of Herbal
Medicine
Herbal medicine follows naturopathic principles:-
-
working with the healing power of nature
-
finding the cause rather than just treating symptoms
-
educating the client to enable self-responsibility
for health
-
treating the whole person - recognising that wellness
and unwellness come from a complex interaction of genetic, physiological,
biochemical, physical, emotional, social, environmental and lifestyle
factors.
-
a focus on preventing unwellness
-
improving personal vitality
-
doing no harm
What Is In Herbal
Medicine?
Most products contain a synergistic mix of herbs, and sometimes also
contain vitamins and/or minerals. The tinctures are combined to the
individual client’s needs.
Herbal products prescribed are “Practitioner Only” products
and are not directly available to the public.
In my practice I use a range of herbs - including herbs
traditionally from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Pacific Region, including
some New Zealand native herbs.
Herbal teas prescribed are organically grown in the gardens near the
clinic.
Herbal medicine has both a long history of traditional use and an expanding
modern research base, which guides current practice.
